TTIC #41: The Love Triangle

It’s Tuesday again! That means it’s time for another Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge! This week’s challenge was created by Eve. Here’s what she wrote:

It’s complicated….we all know that. I mean really could you choose? Well for some of us it is easy {Edward for me!} However, for Bella it is a little more difficult. Jacob fills that void {or hole} while Edward is gone. And does a pretty good job at it. It is complicated and for sure- a love triangle at it’s best. Is Jacob more of a brother type figure? Or do you see Bella falling into love with Jacob while Edward is gone? There are so many angles to this triangle……..

For craft challenge:

Make a card {or other item} that represents the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob.

For comment challenge:

What do you feel were some of the down falls of this love triangle? What do you feel were some of the high points?

I’ve got to say… I had a REALLY tough time with this one. I also have to say, that my husband Gene helped me out a LOT with this project. I don’t think I could have done it without him. I’m SO glad that he read (and thoroughly enjoyed!) the Twilight Saga!!! Here’s my (our) creation.

IMG_5962 I pushed myself to try something different here. Aside from the triangle itself (I don’t normally do triangles… I work with curves; things that flow. This was one of the reasons why this challenge was so hard for me!), I had my focal piece of background paper actually coming off of the card. Not likely I’ll ever mail this baby because of that, but I like the concept.

IMG_5965 Here’s my triangle. This is what Gene helped me with. What linked these three together? The links between the guys and Bella are obvious. But Edward and Jacob are linked too… and by the end of the series, “loyalty” is definitely the word I’d use. So Gene came up with my three adjectives. I hadn’t even thought of that. I was going to put pictures or something… but I wasn’t feelin’ any of my ideas. His was great… and it got my ball rollin’.

Now, it’s tough to see in my photos, but I used Glossy Accents on the green flower, and the flowers on the triangle are pop dotted. I added just a couple of dots of Stickles for a wee bit of sparkle, inspired by my wonderful Twi-friend Julie, who does the same type of thing on her cards but with Dew Drops.

The TTIC Design Team has other fantastic projects to display for this week’s challenge – please go and check them out!

For the comment portion, I think that some of the high points of this triangle were, that by the end of the series, the triangle kind of evened itself out. Everyone had an important and pleasant side of it. The relationships all wound up in a good place.

So, a big Thank You to Eve for this thought-provoking and creatively testing challenge for this week. And an even bigger Thank You to Gene! For not only reading the series, but for sharing his thoughts and ideas, and having some fab discussions with me about it too. Love you Babe!

This is really good Alison. I think my favorite thing though is that Gene helped you with it. That is just too sweet. And what a great idea to use Stickles to make faux Dew Drops.

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Remembering Aletha

Greetings, Friends. This post today is part of a very special blog hop. We are celebrating the life of an amazingly talented artist and friend. The crafting community lost Aletha Jane Williams on May 5, 2019. Those of us that worked with her on Design Teams or on Challenge Blogs all agree that she was one of the sweetest and most talented women we knew. We are not here to mourn her loss though. This hop is happening in conjunction with a very special celebration of her life and her art that her husband Bob is holding in her home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please join us in honoring our incredibly creative friend Aletha . My card features the "Remembering Aletha" Sprite, which Mitzi (owner and artist of Aurora Wings ) created specifically for this hop. She is generously giving the digi away to all, over on her blog. This sweet Sprite looks so much like Aletha, and I know she would have been honored. If you download this digi for yourself, please be sure to give a huge "
